Wyedean School and Sixth Form Centre

WYEDEAN CAREERS

Careers Mission statement:
Wyedean School and 6th form centre Careers Department seeks to provide wholly impartial advice and guidance, resources and opportunities. We aim to help students to achieve career aspirations relevant to their academic strengths and interests and to support them with their choices throughout.

We are striving to make Wyedean Careers Information Advice and Guidance (CIAG) accessible to students and we actively encourage and welcome parental involvement.

THE DEPARTMENT.
We are a friendly and approachable team comprising:

Mr. Pilling, Careers Co-ordinator PillingM@wyedean.gloucs.sch.uk

Having taught at Wyedean for five years and seen a tutor group from year 7 -11, I have grown with the school and have an understanding of the needs of our students. This coupled with my background in recruitment gives me a rounded perspective from the points of view of both student and employer. I am currently in my second year as co-ordinator of careers information and education at Wyedean and am working hard to develop our provision making it accessible and effective for our youngsters.

Sue Felton, Careers Advisor FeltonS@wyedean.gloucs.sch.uk

I have worked as a qualified careers adviser for over 10 years, initially in adult guidance and followed by three years with Connexions, before joining Wyedean School. As a member of the Institute of Career Guidance, I am committed to providing an impartial service. This means that I will support students to make informed decisions on their future choices by exploring all or any of the following options:

Identifying possible careers
GCSE and A’levels subject choices
Further and Higher Education courses
Apprenticeships
Employment skills

I am working on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with drop-in sessions now on Tuesday lunch time only, 1.30-2.15, so feel free to call into the careers office without an appointment during those times. We are now located in the library. If you would like to request an appointment via email, please contact me or Mr. Pilling via the links above. Students can also request appointments through their tutors or by filling in a self-referral slip to be found outside the careers office.
