Wyedean Sixth Form - Another Fantastic Set of Results
We could not be more proud of the achievements of our Year 13 students gaining their A level and BTEC results today. In 2023, it is easy to forget how much this year group’s education and wellbeing was impacted by COVID lockdowns. This culminated in them missing the opportunity to sit formal GCSE exams two years ago. Despite no prior external assessments, they are also the first-year group sitting exams in England since COVID to have not had any additional concessions, for example, lower grade boundaries or advanced paper information.
Gwennan Jeremiah, Principal, stated that, “The attainment of every qualification today is a testament to the hard work and determination of our students. They have faced incredible challenges in their secondary education but with support from our teachers and team of support staff, our students have secured the grades that they need to progress on to university, apprenticeships, and the workplace. It is important that we take this opportunity to reflect on all that they have achieved and wish them every success in their next steps.”
Laura Watkins, Assistant Principal, Director of Sixth form shared, “Huge congratulations to all our Year 13 students on their fantastic results today. Our students have worked extremely hard over the last two years and have continuously shown their commitment, resilience and motivation towards their studies which has enabled them to achieve their own individual success today. For some the journey has been more difficult than others, overcoming obstacles and facing challenges with determination. We are extremely proud of their positive approach towards studying and their own personal journey.
Students have worked with our outstanding team of sixth form teachers as well as engaging with our excellent pastoral team to receive the correct support. Alongside the ongoing support from parents/carers and support staff, it really has been a team effort. Students will now embark on the next stage of their academic career having gained the grades for their chosen university, apprenticeships, or employment. We hope that all students are proud of their achievements and wish them the absolute best as they embark upon their next pathway, embracing all opportunities that will arise and that they think positively about the future ahead of them.
We look forward to seeing their achievements in the future. Well done Year 13!”
